An upper level low pressure system and accompanying surface low crossing the Northern Plains pushed a cold front into north-central Kansas by mid afternoon on the 25th. Decent moisture, instability, and shear aided in the development of strong to severe thunderstorms along and ahead of this cold front. Penny to quarter size hail was reported with some of these storms. The storms also produced some flooding the along the South Fork of the Solomon River valley.
