An approaching shortwave trough combined with ample instability in a warm and moist air mass across Ohio and Northern Kentucky during the afternoon. This led to the development of severe thunderstorms that also produced flash flooding across central Ohio and Northern Kentucky into the evening hours. The main severe weather threats were large hail, damaging winds, and flash flooding.
