Abundant moisture combined with weak steering winds aloft set the stage for an active crop of slow-moving thunderstorms across much of central and western New Mexico during the afternoon and evening. Several strong thunderstorms produced very heavy rainfall and accumulating hail in the vicinity of Grants and the Acoma Pueblo.
