A very moist air mass persisted across the region. Precipitable water values remained near 2.0 inches. A frontal boundary was stalled just to the west of the area. Just as was the case on the 8th, scattered thunderstorms developed during the afternoon and evening hours. On this day, one area of fairly concentrated thunderstorms developed along the Blue Ridge Mountains across Patrick county and persisted in that area for a couple of hours during the evening.
