An active weather pattern, combined with excessive atmospheric moisture, produced numerous showers and thunderstorms October 4th and early October 5th. Heavy rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches were common over central Georgia, with higher amounts up to 10 inches in and around Columbus and West Point in west central Georgia. Isolated flash flooding was also reported around Gainesville, resulting from 2.5 to 4 inches of rainfall.
