Canyon County Flood History

Flood — Jun 13, 2023

A nearly stationary upper level low over the Four Corners region brought periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms which caused localized urban flooding in south central Idaho. Rainfall totals were around 0.50 inches, but the previous days rainfall made areas more prone to localized flooding.

Flood — Jun 5, 2022

Moist and unstable southwest flow moved into the region early on Sunday, June 5th. Favorable upper level dynamics combined with sufficient daytime heating led to several rounds of long-lasting severe thunderstorms through the overnight hours.

Flood — Mar 6, 2017

The Army Corps of Engineers and Bureau of Reclamation increased regulated flows from Lucky Peak Reservoir putting the Boise River in flood for the remainder of the month of March. Flooding was expected to continue through late spring.

Flood — May 1, 2017

The Boise River continued to be in flood during the entire month of May due to planned release at Lucky Peak.

Flood — Apr 1, 2017

Flooding continued for the entire month of April on the Boise River as a result of flood control efforts by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
