Terms of Service

Last updated: April 28, 2026

Informational Use Only

FloodZoneMap.org provides flood zone lookups, ranking pages, county and state pages, and other content for general informational purposes only. The site is not a substitute for an official Flood Zone Determination, an Elevation Certificate, advice from a licensed insurance agent, or guidance from your local floodplain administrator.

For official flood zone determinations — for insurance underwriting, mortgage requirements, building permits, or any legally binding purpose — consult FEMA, your local floodplain administrator, or a certified Flood Zone Determination provider.

Data Accuracy

Flood zone data is sourced from FEMA's National Flood Hazard Layer (NFHL) and is updated as FEMA publishes new map revisions. FEMA's flood maps are themselves models of flood risk, not guarantees; properties outside Special Flood Hazard Areas can and do flood. Historical claims, policy, and disaster data come from OpenFEMA and NOAA Storm Events; figures may lag the present and may be revised by the source agencies without notice.

We make a good-faith effort to keep this data current and to fix errors when they are reported. We do not, however, warrant the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data on this site.

No Warranty

This site and its contents are provided on an "AS IS" basis without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We disclaim all warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any damages arising from your use of, or reliance on, this site.

Acceptable Use

You may use FloodZoneMap.org for personal, professional, and research purposes. The free JSON API (/api) and CSV downloads (/data) may be used in your own projects, including commercial ones. Please be reasonable about request rates and credit FloodZoneMap.org as the source where appropriate.

Automated scraping that imposes a disproportionate load, attempts to disrupt the service, or attempts to circumvent rate limits is not permitted. Use the public API and data downloads instead.

Third-Party Content and Links

This site links to and references third-party sites and data sources (FEMA, NOAA, the U.S. Census Bureau, state agencies, and others). We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or availability of those sites.

Changes

We may revise these terms at any time by updating this page. Continued use of the site after a revision constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
