Rainfall and snow melt combined to increase the flow on the Payette River to minor flood stage.

Heavy rainfall caused the Payette River to spill over it's banks in parts of Southwest Idaho on the 26th through the 28th.

A weak shortwave trough combined with afternoon surface heating to produce strong to severe convection across parts of Payette County in Southwest Idaho on the 6th.

A deep low pressure system anchored in the Gulf of Alaska and a zonal flow pattern across the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain West provided the right ingredients for a sustained moisture plume which produced convection and periods of moderate to heavy rain over a three day period causing flooding and flash flooding, and severe thunderstorms across Southeast Oregon and Southwest Idaho.

Unusually heavy rainfall during the month of may caused many Idaho rivers to crest above flood stage. In south west Idaho, the Weiser River and Snake River at Weiser, the Payette River at Emmett and the Boise River at Boise all flooded during the final week of the month.
