A s/wv trough initiated thunderstorms across the Oklahoma and Texas panhandles and this activity spread northeast across the area.

Storms developed along a cold front. Precipitable water values in the 75th to 90th percentile range ahead of the front set the stage for flash flooding in Grant County.
