Menominee County Flood History

Flash Flood — Jul 14, 2021

Thunderstorms training over northern Menominee County caused flash flooding from Cunard to Hermansville on the afternoon of the 14th. Portions of the Hermanville Golf Course were under water from the storms.

Lakeshore Flood — May 18, 2020

A tightening pressure gradient between a deepening low pressure system over the Midwest and Hudson Bay high pressure to the north generated a prolonged period of strong northeast winds to 40 mph or more across the Bay of Green Bay. Pounding waves into the shores of southern Menominee County caused extensive lakeshore flooding from the 18th into the morning of the 19th.

A deepening storm system tracking from the Central Plains across northern Lower Michigan snarled holiday traffic by dumping moderate to heavy snow across much of west and north central Upper Michigan on the 27th, the day before Thanksgiving. Lakeshore Flood — Oct 21, 2019

An intense low pressure system moving from the Northern Plains across western Lake Superior produced strong east to southeast winds across the area which induced lakeshore flooding over the Bay of Green Bay and portions of the Keweenaw Peninsula on the 21st.

Flood — Apr 20, 2019

Abundant and anomalously wet snow pack along with periods of moderate to heavy rain contributed to widespread minor river flooding across much of west and central Upper Michigan from the 18th through the end of the month.
