Persistent rain and embedded thunderstorms produced heavy rain in parts of central Lower Michigan. An observer in St Helen reported 5.79 inches of rain in the 24 hours preceding 8 am EDT on the 26th. Flash Flood — May 9, 2004
A warm front was moving slowly north into Lower Michigan. Thunderstorms developed repeatedly north of the warm front, dropping up to 2 inches of rain in less than an hour in spots. Isolated flooding and flash flooding resulted, with more widespread flooding in southern Gladwin County.
