Flood — May 31, 2013

A prolonged period of enhanced surface mosture streaming into eastern Montana from east to west combined with a short-wave disturbance to produce high rainfall rates across the area over multiple days.

Flash Flood — May 18, 2013

A very moist surface layer combined with a near-stationary, large area of low pressure over the western states to produce slow-moving, efficient downpours.
