The combination of recent rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches across the area and mountain snow melt resulted in rapid water runoff and flooding. As a result, the Musselshell River rose above flood stage from Harlowton to Ryegate, as well as in the towns of Roundup and Musselshell.
