A combination of heavy late April rains and the melting of a record snowpack led to flooding along the Fish River at Fort Kent. The flooding of the Fish River was enhanced by the elevated waters of the Saint John River backing up into the Fish River at their juncture. The flooding developed in late April and continued into early May.
