The region was under the influence of high pressure on August 19th, 2021, with a warm, humid airmass in place over northeast OH. PWAT values ranged from 1.5 to 1.7 with MLCAPE values from 500 to 1000 j/kg. Thunderstorms with intense rainfall rates developed over Trumbull County during the afternoon hours, with rates peaking near 2.5 per hour. The Niles and Vienna Township areas received multiple rounds of thunderstorms, with storm total rainfall amounts of 1.00 to 2.50.
