Showers and thunderstorms developed along a cold front from the late evening of the 29th through the afternoon of the 30th. Additional showers developed behind the front through the afternoon of the 31th as the upper level trough axis shifted eastward across the central Plains into the Ohio Valley. Numerous reports of flooding were received to the east of Springfield, where some locations received over two inches of rain.
