River flooding due to snowmelt and excess moisture was already ongoing along portions of the James at the start of the month and did not abate. The James River at Columbia crested at 18.32 feet on May 20 and has been in flood stage the whole month, though impacts are limited to agricultural lands.||Total flood costs related to agriculture land were obtained from the USDA Cause of Loss Summary of Business report.
