As an area of high pressure remained centered east of New Mexico, deep monsoonal moisture continued to surge into northern and central New Mexico on June 26, 2022. An embedded easterly wave helped in the development and intensification of numerous thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours. Northeast Roswell was hit hardest as thunderstorms with heavy rainfall rates caused flash flooding across portions of the city. A blocked drainage gate was responsible for flooding at least a dozen
