A weak upper ridge was over West Texas and Southeast New Mexico, and upper disturbances were moving overhead. These upper disturbances, along with remnant outflow boundaries from previous thunderstorms, helped to provide lift. Low-level moisture, instability, and wind shear were high across the area.
