With the area of high pressure still centered to the east of New Mexico, southerly flow across the area continued to allow for subtropical moisture to stream into the area. Meanwhile, some drier air working into western New Mexico began to have a noticeable impact on storm coverage and intensity. Despite this, thunderstorms were still capable of producing locally heavy rain, and one thunderstorm near Nageezi south of Farmington caused flash flooding along U.S. Highway 550.
