Outflow boundaries originating from distant thunderstorms converged on the valley floor during the evening hours. This combined with a pocket of upper-level divergence as analyzed by the SPC mesoanalysis resulted in the development of a strong thunderstorm over Chandler. Other weaker thunderstorms developed across the valley as well from the resulting outflow boundaries. A strong thunderstorm that developed near Morristown caused downed powerlines, resulting in the closure of US-60. No injuries
