With an abundant amount of moisture in the atmosphere and the high pressure centered overhead contributing to slow storm motions, an active monsoon pattern continued on August 4, 2022. Scattered to numerous thunderstorms impacts much of northern and central New Mexico with heavy rain common in the more robust thunderstorms. The Calf Canyon burn scar was hit again with significant flooding observed in Rociada.

Heavy rain in the Santa Fe, New Mexico area on June 25, 2022, caused minor flash flooding in the city with the arroyos filling up with water. Unfortunately, this resulted in the first arroyo flash flood fatality of the year after a man was found dead within an arroyo.

An upper level impulse moving very slowly northeast over New Mexico after multiple days of heavy rainfall produced areas of flash flooding yet again. A wave of heavy rainfall early in the day over Chaves County produced flash flooding along U.S. 285 north of Roswell.
