Despite the upper-level high pressure centered over New Mexico, it was still an active monsoon day with plenty of atmospheric moisture leading to scattered thunderstorms throughout the afternoon and evening hours of August 6, 2022. The Calf Canyon burn scar was hit yet again with heavy rainfall which flowed towards Montezuma, rendering roadways in the area impassable.
