Aug 9, 2022
Another active monsoon day was in store for northern and central New Mexico on August 9, 2022. As is typical, thunderstorms first developed over the high terrain areas before becoming more widespread as the day progressed. Some of these thunderstorms were more robust and produced heavy rainfall which led to flash flooding. Most notably for the day, the McBride burn scar near Ruidoso was hit hard with flash flooding. Road closures from debris flow were also reported near Golden.
