Thunderstorms developed late in the evening of July 22nd across northeast Illinois and continued into the morning of July 23rd. Numerous thunderstorms moved over the same areas across portions of Lake County, producing torrential rain and flash flooding. Large hail also occurred. Three tornadoes occurred in the southern suburbs of Chicago just after sunrise.
