Southwesterly flow prevailed with the high pressure ridge extending over the area from the Bermuda high. This flow regime kept the Atlantic sea breeze pinned to the coastline with the sea breeze merger happening east of I-95. Warm mid level temperatures and high moisture content with PWATs over 2 inches led to efficient rainfall rates in storms and locally heavy rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches.
