A meso-scale convective system (MCS) developed out of afternoon thunderstorms initiated along a frontal boundary in northern Alabama and Georgia on the 21st. That MCS raced south across southern Alabama and Mississippi during the overnight hours, moving across the local area on the morning of the 22nd.
