After several days of much drier conditions, a more traditional monsoon pattern returned as an area of high pressure developed near the Oklahoma and Texas border and a potent upper-level low pressure system developed off the coast of northern California. This resulted in southerly flow over New Mexico that allowed for moisture to stream back into the area.
