A mid-level disturbance coupled to a cold front draped along the western Piedmont triggered scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms across the southern to northeastern Piedmont. These storms produced several reports of flash flooding in Wake and Cumberland Counties. No storms reached severe limits and the storm activity tapered off across central North Carolina by late evening.
