An inverted trough of low pressure over the area interacted with the sea breezes over a moist airmass in light flow. Aloft, broad troughing over the lower Mississippi Valley and ridging over the Bahamas continued west-southwesterly flow maintaining the anomalously moist airmass over the area, with PWATs near 2.2 inches.
