A broken line of thunderstorms developed ahead of a cold front extending from a low pressure system over the eastern Great Lakes through the mid-Mississippi River Valley. Leading up to the event, strong afternoon heating supported surface-based CAPE values rising into the 2,500 to 3,000 J/Kg range, while precipitable water values were observed climbing from 1.4 inches earlier in the day to around 1.8 inches across these counties as southwesterly winds tapped into deep moisture across the Tennes
