The combination of near record moisture content (PWATs 1.8-2.0 inches), moderate to strong instability (SBCAPE 2000 J/KG), very slow steering flow and an upper-level disturbance resulted in a very conducive environment for the generation of thunderstorms producing very heavy rainfall activity across portions of south-central and southwestern Arizona, resulting in flash flooding.
