An upper-level disturbance lingering over the area in combination with MLCAPE of approximately 1000-1500 J/KG and DCAPE of around 1000 J/KG lead to the development of strong storms across portions of southern and central Arizona during the afternoon hours. Outflow winds led to areas of blowing dust with the more persistent storms leading to isolated flash flooding.
