An upper trough pulled up stationary across Northeast Texas, extreme Southern Arkansas and North Louisiana during the morning of August 18th, which reinforced a weak surface front south into Deep East Texas and Central Louisiana. This front focused an area of low level moisture pooling across these areas, as well as increased large scale forcing as it tapped into strong heating during the afternoon.
