There was continuing rainy pattern that had been in place for a week or more. As is typical with very moist summer-time patterns, numerous nocturnal showers and thunderstorms had developed in the Mississippi Sound. Those thunderstorms gradually moved inland into the Mississippi Gulf Coast and the heavy rainfall associated with those thunderstorms resulted in flash flooding in Moss Point.
