A stationary front draped over the area on September 5th and 6th allowed for the development of slow moving thunderstorms. These thunderstorms produced torrential rainfall in an environment with precipitable water values 1.8-2 inches. Anywhere from 2 to 4 inches of rainfall fell in a several hour period with some localized spots receiving close to 6 inches of rain.
