The combination of the lunar perigee and full moon produced some of the highest astronomical tides of the year along the southeast South Carolina coast. Strong northeast flow caused large positive tidal departures which allowed peak tide levels to rise above major coastal flooding thresholds. Significant flooding was reported across portions of Charleston and coastal Colleton counties.
