Isolated thunderstorms developed during the afternoon hours across portions of southeast California and southwest Arizona in response to upper-level energy rotating around the base of a cutoff low located over northern Sonora. Moderate to strong instability (MLCAPE of 1000-2000 J/KG) and above normal moisture with PWATs up to 1.4 inches, aided for some of the thunderstorm activity to be significant.
