A large upper level disturbance lumbered through West Virginia between January 3rd and 4th, leading to persistent rain showers across the Ohio River Valley. As rain continued to fall in northwest West Virginia, coupled with excessive rainfall from upstream, Middle Island Creek in Tyler County rose out of its banks. This led to minor flooding of adjacent fields and roadways near the creek.
