As a cold front approached the local area from the west, the environment became primed for thunderstorms to develop with warmth and instability increasing. Storms that developed ahead of the front had little mid level flow to give them much movement. Thus, one storm over the Baton Rouge metro produced heavy rain that resulted in flash flooding.
