An upper level disturbance interacted with moisture overriding a stalled front over Arkansas to produce showers and a few thunderstorms over the area from the afternoon of the 7th to the early morning of the 8th. While most of the area received between one-quarter to one-half inch of rain, locations along Interstate 44 from Joplin to Springfield and along Highway 60 from Springfield to Cabool received over one and a half inches.
