Much of the Maple River drainage basin experienced a cold slow start to spring, leaving the ground frozen when temperatures finally started to consistently warm above freezing during the second week in April. Snow water equivalent at the start of April was in excess of 4 inches, with most of the melt entering waterways with the resulting flooding of the Maple.
