A complex of showers and thunderstorms moved southeast through portions of the Texas Panhandle during the overnight period of June 7th-8th. This complex moved fairly quickly only dropping 0.5 up to around 0.75 of rain. However, Amarillo had already seen its storage and playa lakes at capacity. This system sent many areas near lakes into some historical flooding with residents being evacuated from some of these areas early in the morning on the 8th.
