A slow moving area of low pressure was centered over Southern Vermont on the morning of the 17th. Around mid-morning a band of heavy rain showers with embedded thunderstorms developed from Lebanon to Jaffrey. The band pivoted over the same region bringing nearly continuous moderate to periods of heavy rainfall through mid-afternoon. Most areas received 1 to 2.5 inches of rain across southwest New Hampshire, but there were localized areas of 3 or more inches of rain reported from unofficial gauge
