Several days of excessive heat for Middle Tennessee was finally about to come to an end as a cold front approached from the northwest. Thunderstorms developed ahead of this front that moved into western portions of Middle Tennessee during the late afternoon. These thunderstorms produced damaging winds and heavy rain as they moved towards the south. Several reports of wind damage in the form of downed trees and powerlines were received.
