A cold front swept through Central New York, kicking off numerous thunderstorms. An unstable environment favored scattered severe thunderstorms with torrential rainfall over a short period of time. Rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches fell over a concentrated area in under 3 hours contributing to rapid flooding of many roads, ditches and culverts.
