A slow moving cold front sparked thunderstorm development in the early morning hours on September 13th, 2023. These thunderstorms moved fairly slowly and trained over portions of Southern Connecticut producing flash flooding with rainfall rates of 1-3 inches per hour. Portions of the area picked up 1-2 inches of rainfall in an hour or less. The environment was unstable with 1000 J/kg of SBCAPE and PWATs of 1.7 inches.
