An upper-level trough over the Tennessee valley and a stalled frontal boundary over western North Carolina and Virginia combined with a surface trough over the Coastal Plain of central North Carolina brought several rounds of showers and thunderstorms. Flash flooding and damaging winds were reported in Wake, Halifax, and Forsyth counties.
