A shortwave trough moving across the Desert Southwest combined with well-above normal moisture, with precipitable water values peak at 1.0-1.2, resulted in a large swath of rain with embedded thunderstorms moving across portions of southeast CA during the late morning and afternoon hours on the 22nd. Rainfall rates ranged between 0.10-0.50 according to doppler radar estimates, resulting in total amounts of between 0.5-1.25 within a period of three hours. The rainfall was enough to result in area
