An advancing low pressure system entered into the Ohio Valley on April 11th and set forth strong thunderstorms and heavy downpours. Storms tracked through initially early in the afternoon, stirring up strong winds that blew down a tree near the town of Ironton. As multiple rounds of showers and storms pressed across Ohio, heavy downpours over already saturated soils drained into the local creeks and streams and resulted in river flooding beginning that evening.
